Sadie Hirst is an award winning baker and member of the British Society of Baking. With her Husband Russell they a have a multi award winning butchers shop in Woodhall Spa. She is a keen collector of cookery books and is especially interested in historic local recipes and regional specialities.
"Baking is in my blood," says Sadie "Going back through my family history, there are mill owners and bakers in Alford and a long line of caterers including for the Masonic Hall in Spilsby. I think I was destined to end up making food!"
Sadie has had an illustrious career starting from humble beginnings working in various hotels before changing career to become a journalist. For 15 years Sadie worked for many big names such as Orchard FM in Somerset, Viking FM in Hull, Mortons and finally Johnston Press in Horncastle. All this and she still managed to take a year out to see the world!
In September 2003, Sadie met her husband Russell and the two work together in RJ Hirsts Family Butchers in Woodhall Spa.
A firm believer in using yellowbelly produce, Sadie is a strong advocate of Select Lincolnshire.
